Port-Vendres is the ideal place to start great rambles or mountain bike rides. Indeed on these Côte Vermeille hills, the Albères massif offers a unique fauna and flora and reveals very well conserved historical constructions (dolmens, Romanesque chapels, fortifications etc.)
Different tours for all levels (from beginners to good walkers) are detailed in the “Topo guides” sold at the tourist office:
- Côte Vermeille topo guide: 18 hikes starting from the 4 districts of the Côte Vermeille (Collioure, Port-Vendres, Banyuls-sur-Mer and Cerbère).
Price 5,50 €
- The Pyrenees, with your feet in the water: 15 hikes on the Côte Vermeille and the Albères.
Price 7 €
The coast path (or « customs officers path », or « smugglers path ») goes from Argelès-sur-Mer to the Spanish border via Collioure, the port of Port-Vendres, Banyuls-sur-Mer and Cerbère.
Topo guide (published by the “communauté de communes Albères-Côte Vermeille”) sold in the tourist offices. Price 4 €
Tasty walks are organised by the 4 towns of the Côte Vermeille (Collioure, Port-Vendres, Banyuls-sur-Mer and Cerbère) on Tuesday and Friday mornings from April till November (not in July and August). A guide with a natural telling talent, will introduce you in an original way to the terrace vineyards of the hinterland. Now and then a appetizing break to taste local products and the discovery goes on!
Program available on request at the tourist office.
